Christmas is always the most gorgeous and splendid event of the year with lights, decorations, and Christmas trees. And the Christmas market is what I love the most at this time.
Under the freezing air of winter, the Christmas market is a place where people gather with warm yellow lights. In Vienna, there are dozens of Christmas markets, and each of them has its specialty.
The Christmas market in Town Hall (Rathaus) is the most famous one in Vienna. This market is always decorated very gloriously with a great luminous gate, a giant tree with lamps in heart form, and many captivating kiosks. This location also sets a wide skating rink that stays open till after New Year Eve.
The second Christmas market I want to recommend is the market situated in Karlskirche. This market is very cozy and an ideal destination for children because the organizers create in front of Charles’ Church (Karlskirche) a playground where children can play with many different animals. I’m pretty impressed with lamp lines hanged above the market that makes this place very mystical.
If you’re a fan of a fairy tale, you must visit the Christmas market in Belvedere Palace. Immediately from the entrance, you’ll see a magical scene with the twinkling lamps on a big pool in front of the palace. In 2019, Belvedere had the most impressive Christmas tree that was created from sleighs.
The last one, but my most loved Christmas market, is a market in Schönbrunn Castle. Though this market pretty small, I’m really in love with its familiar atmosphere. I strongly recommend Punsch (a special drink at Christmas in Austria) in Schönbrunn because its flavor is tasty and unique. Especially, visitors can enjoy the traditional musical atmosphere in this castle.
Unfortunately, Christmas markets of the whole of Vienna, and maybe the whole world, cannot be held because of coronavirus. But I hope that everything will come back soon when this pandemic is over. Merry Christmas to everyone, and let’s check my next article: “Where is the most impressive check-in place in Christmas in Vienna?”
