Austria #5: 4 Unique Cycling Paths in Vienna

  • Danube island

Danube Island is an ideal place for biking in Vienna. With a long biking path, Danube island is suitable for training this sport. Covering this path is a natural atmosphere, which helps you soothe tiredness and tension. Danube Island is a great place to run away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

If you love to barbecue, you could find many grilling points along the biking path. However, you have to rent these points before you start your barbecue party.

  • Danube canal

In contrast to Danube Island, the Danube canal is very crowded. The Danube Canal is a destination for young people. They come here to chill, drink, dance, chat, or admire graffiti works. Due to the crowd, riding a bike is uncomfortable in the Danube Canal. But this Canal is one of the most fabulous places in Vienna, especially at night.

Lights from boats, restaurants, and bars by the Danube canal is a luminous scene that is one of the unforgettable images for everyone who visits or lives in Vienna.

  • Prater

Prater is considered the most famous entertainment center in Vienna with many fascinating games. And Prater possesses one of the most beautiful park paths and biking paths in Vienna, especially in Autumn. The biking path of Prater is wider than others, but it’s also very crowded. However, this is an ideal cycling path for the family because it’s pretty safe, and there are many spaces for a picnic.

  • Wienfluss-Weg

My most beloved biking path in Vienna is Wienfluss-Weg. In my opinion, this path is the best idea for cycling. It’s not crowded like the Danube canal or Prater, but it’s not too silent like Danube island. I particularly love a small river, actually like a stream, by this path. The disadvantages of this biking path are the lack of trees and high water problems. People cannot ride a bike here when the water level is too high.
